[ARTWORK] Kelly the Dreamer – Touching Dreams

I have a no-longer-available test of this particular piece on an all-over t-shirt and it’s literally my favourite shirt. The runner up is my repeated chibi Deathena patterned one. I wear those two the most. Eventually, this piece will be back up on my online shop as an all-over shirt (heck, by the time you read this, it may already be back up). For now, it’s available on other pieces simply because this is one of my favourite pieces and, well, it’s Kelly the Dreamer. I also have a no-longer-available iPhone 6s-sized tough case of the artwork as my phone case. It’s a bit scratched and all, but overall, I still love it.

This was drawn as part of a set of three pieces that people could vote for to be turned into a print. This one, as you can guess, was the winning one!

The idea was Kelly the Dreamer in her room choosing a dream orb to explore. Her room is FULL of them. They’re all different sizes and colours. Each one represents a different version of Kelly in different scenarios, anytime, anywhere. Sometimes she goes off and plays just for fun, other times it’s to help me gather insight and inspiration.

In this case, she is touching two different dreams to take a look at them both. I suspect that she’s going to twirl her wrists so her palms face up towards her to take a look at which Kelly incarnation she wants to join with or which world she wants to go to, if there isn’t a Kelly incarnation there.

The orbs aren’t even necessarily dreams either…they’re realities. An endless possibility of realities. They’re called dream orbs because they show up as Kelly the Dreamer daydreams about what she wants to be doing.

The light bars are also part of her room – they change sizes and widths depending on what she’s listening to at the moment, since she’s often listening to music.

I love this piece, mostly for the colours. I also love how I did Kelly’s hands. Strangely enough, I don’t think this is one of my better looking pieces, but I still love it nonetheless…obviously. I think I mostly have an issue with her face and I think her body looks a little squished, although that could be an illusion of the headphones around her neck. She doesn’t look as bad in the sketches.

If you enjoy this piece too and wouldn’t mind having a shirt, a phone case, or even a mug or drawstring backpack with it on it, check it out on the online shop.
