I was working on my art commission site and knew I wanted one of my illustrations to feature on it. I wasn’t about to draw another piece though in the middle of coding, so I opted to go for an older piece of mine, but update it with the colors I use for my Kelly Mulry branding (which is just the TKN branding colors without the purple).
The piece I opted was of myself in my Creator Side drawing in the air. I thought the concept of the piece suited my art commissions, since it’s literally me drawing in the air. I didn’t want to use the original piece though. I personally didn’t like how I originally applied the colors and overlays and it was just too dark and boring for my taste nor did it suit my branding.
Hence why I updated it.
You have no idea what I’m talking about?
Take a look at this comparison:
The above wasn’t the only change I did either!!
I actually want ahead and changed the base color to white to better match my current artwork. I don’t think it makes too much of a difference in the end, but there are some subtle ones. I think I notice it the most in my hair.
You can also see I added on a background for a bit more variety.
I’m personally IN LOVE with the new version, but I’m curious, trainee – which one do YOU prefer? Or do you like them both? Or is it kind of a mixture of some things you like and other things you don’t? Let me know!
