This was the winning piece for Fiametta. I think out of all the ones that I drew, this one is the best looking one, so I can see how it ended up being chosen.
I think the final product is okay. This is one of the pieces I prefer the sketch.
Fiametta is igniting a red candle while handing over some passionate energy towards the viewer, holding it in her hand. It’s supposed to be a heart, but the final version…literally looks like a blob of nothingness. It looks nothing like a heart!
I’m also not sure how I feel about the overall lighting. I think if I were to do this picture today, I would have approached it differently.
I honestly have no idea if I had a story in my head for this. I don’t know if she is spending time with Carwyn (who she taught love magic to) or if it’s someone else. Like most of these pieces, this was before I had a full grasp on everyone and how they act.
Fiametta is a fire fairy and a part of the Fairy Quartet #9 (plus Deathena). She’s feisty with her energy ranging from fairly calm to fun & energetic to fiery anger. She’s the most stubborn of the bunch. She doesn’t like Deathena at all and refuses to have anything to do with her, no matter how well the others treat her. It doesn’t help either that Deathena accidentally erases one of her salamander friends from existence…
