Caramel Cream!!! One of Bea’s rivals in MAKE ME A MODEL!. They’re one of the first reoccurring characters to show up in the story. I always really liked their design – they’re one of my “wider” characters and I really dig the single white strip in their hair. It’s a family trait.
I remember someone at ConnectiCon came up to me and got really excited to see see Caramel. She was like “she looks like me!!” and repeated a few times, probably because I was thrown off and had literally NO idea how to respond back. I felt bad about it afterward. I don’t know if you are the person, but if you are, I’m SO sorry for my blank stare!! I’m so happy for the feedback!! I want to make sure people feel represented in my storytelling, which includes having a wide variety of characters, including as majour characters!
Anyway, this particular illustration was originally drawn to be a part of all those dropped MAKE ME A MODEL! pictures that I originally sketched for advertisements. I think this (as well as a similar one with Bea) looked SO good. I needed some prints for the characters in the story, so used them!
I can’t quite remember if I was going to do similar ones with the other characters. Even if I didn’t originally plan that, I’m sure that I would have done so anyway.
