Out of the three sketches I did of Kelly in an 18th-century style dress, this one is my favourite! She’s supposed to be on a balcony, peering over to something below. What that something is, I’m not sure. It could be a well manicured garden, a large outdoor party, or something else entirely. I love her pose, I love her outfit, I love everything about it!
You probably noticed that there are a few things that are so totally not 18th century, like her bangs, her choker, and in this particular picture, her star-shaped button. That’s fine. I wasn’t going for complete historical accuracy here anyway – I wanted something that reflected the character.
This is a picture that if I had finished it, I probably would have wanted framed, depending on the outcome.
Why didn’t I colour this picture or the previous two 18th-century-inspired clothing ones? I just never got around to it. I do that quite a bit with my artwork.
