I originally did this piece for my old commissions website. I think it was on a banner. I really wanted the artwork to be infinite – I wanted the self in the ball of light to be holding the self in the ball of light on and on and on and on…but I realized that just wasn’t possible. Thinking about that is reminding me of a mirror setup from elementary school where the mirror seemed to reflect back my image endlessly, in the same exact way, getting smaller and smaller as it went on…
Anyway, I honestly don’t really remember the concept behind this piece. I think I just wanted something that represented myself to use for my commissions website. This is what I came up with. It’s something particularly fancy.
Ho, dang, I just realized the hands look A LOT better and a lot more interesting in the final piece! I forgot about that (and why wouldn’t I? I drew this piece a couple of years ago). The hands look GREAT! My face looks good, but I think it looks better in the sketch.
