[CREATIVE WORKS | ARTWORK | UPDATES] Artwork Update #1: Storyboards

Warning: I most likely will not be editing these posts, so please forgive any mistakes I make.

Hello, everybody! Welcome to a new update series: Artwork Updates! I thought this would be a good idea to have, since the regular ol’ “my day” updates aren’t really the best to ramble about my creative works in. Like, I can mentioned them since they ARE a part of my day, but they really need to be elaborated on separately.

And that’s what this is.

This particular update is about my storyboards.

I won’t reveal quite yet what the comic is about, although by the images I have revealed, it’s pretty easy to guess what it’s about. It was a comic I had thought up in 2012, although I didn’t get to finish scripting it until last year. I’m personally rather fond of the idea and find it hilarious, so I hope others will too.

The comic is a fan comic, so it’s based off one of my favourite franchises. You can probably guess which franchise it is by the doodles. I’m certain there will be complaints from people, primarily not including the most recent characters in the series, but…that’s too dang bad! The comic idea is from 2012 and I felt that the characters currently in the series would not work with the flow of this comic. I am considering putting them in the background though…who knows.

I’m fairly excited by the fact I completed the storyboards. It kind of has been annoying and has made me antsy off and on, just simply waiting to finish them. Of course, they wouldn’t be finished without me doing them, so I put up with it. I am SO glad I did!

I’m certain I’m going to be tweaking panels as I draw, but that’s okay. The storyboard is just to help me with the panel layout and give me a general idea of the character placement. If I don’t like where something is, I can adjust it during the sketching process and even later in the colouring.

Since this comic storyboard is finished, next up is the sketching, right? …right?

…well, no.

Well, kind of. Yes, that is technically the next step. However, I am aiming to launch this comic around the same time as another comic of mine. I would like to work on the two of them almost simultaneously so they can come out at around the same time, like they’re suppose to.

The one I just finished is a fan comic, while the one I will be working on next is an ORIGINAL comic. I don’t expect it to get any following, but I’m hoping with it coming out alongside the fan comic, it gives it a chance to be noticed. Maybe someone accidentally clicking on it, thinking it’s an update to the fan comic, only to find out it’s an original one and they like the story, so they continue reading.

I pretty much only have the design for the main character of the original comic though, so I need to come up with everyone else too. That’s fine with me though. It’ll take some time, but it’ll be done.

I think this is a pretty good comic though to post up alongside the fan comic. I aimed my original comic towards the kind of people who will FLOCK to my fan comic (even if the quality sucks). I actually think my original comic has a good idea; I just hope I can execute it.

Right now, my plans with the comics is to work on these two almost simultaneously (the fan comic SHOULD be ahead). I’m hoping to work on scripts of more comics alongside them, giving me a couple more choices to work off of. I have a lot of ideas, after all and SO many stories to tell!

I’m pretty excited to share all the awesome stories with you.

I kind of wonder what I will be doing next for my comics…hmm…

And what about those commissions…?

Yes, yes! I WILL be doing commissions and they WILL be a priority. I am getting paid for those, after all!

The comics are something I’m voluntarily doing, which should hopefully let me not stress over them.

Okay, I’m going to bed now. Good night~!
